Andrea Bogdan generously uses color and motion in her paintings to express the unique life spark inside every person, and the weird, wonderful and conflicted nature of the human condition. All of her works are improvised from beginning to end, painted primarily by “hand” (she prefers using acrylics and painting with the side of her palm), and no two pieces are alike. She derives inspiration from the vast array of people she’s met from all walks of life, having worked a variety of jobs in places such as Detroit, The Bronx, Manhattan, Dallas, Prague, Vienna, and around Los Angeles.

“World Loves Marie” is a mixed media series about an artist on the edge who traveled from Korea to Los Angeles to pursue her artistic dream. The title of the series was derived from her Instagram account, with hardly a handful of followers and “some of the most poignant and beautiful videos and photos I had ever seen,” explains Bogdan. Marie’s IG was taken down, her true identity remains a mystery, and she is currently pursuing a music career in Europe.
